Reefer Containers

Using Refrigerated Containers as Cold Rooms

Reefer container installed as an on-site cold room

Anyone who knows reefer containers usually associates them directly with shipping goods by sea at low temperatures. A less common use of refrigerated containers is on-site storage of products that require constant cold. This increasingly common practice is a great alternative to built cold rooms, letting industries such as food, chemicals and fruit, among others, store their goods during periods of higher demand, or permanently.

In some cases where there is no electricity supply, fuel-powered generators for reefers, known as gensets, are also used. This special equipment keeps the cold chain running for up to 72 hours of continuous use. At Econtainers we have a large fleet of refrigerated containers available for rent and sale.
